Position: Marketing Specialist

Classification: Non-exempt

Supervisor: Marketing Director

FTE: 100% Full Time

Location: GLAD Headquarters (Los Angeles)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Marketing Director, the Marketing Specialist will:

  1. Develop videos and content for social media, websites, and newsletters to maintain organization’s brand by generating awareness or donations
  2. Organize and promote innovative ways to raise community awareness and expand relationship development
  3. Research, identify, and secure fundraising opportunities through various sources including online, community events or donations
  4. Plan and adopt strategies for fundraising efforts
  5. Create and maintain performance reports for clear visibility of the efforts required to reach the target
  6. Update and maintain vendor and donor information using the CRM database
  7. Perform such tasks and responsibilities as may be delegated

Applicant qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years’ experience in Marketing/Advertising, Communications/Public Relations or related field
  2. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital applications such as: Social Media tools, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Customer Relationship Management, WordPress, Web Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.
  4. Must be able to relate and display sensitivity to deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind persons with varied communication skills and language levels; must be able to work with a diverse, multi-ethnic population
  5. Knowledge of laws governing the rights of deaf and hard of hearing individuals is desired
  6. Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a flexible self-starter and a resourceful team player; be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  7. Be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, sometimes with competing deadlines
  8. Have excellent interpersonal skills and maintain a cooperative relationship with co-employees, directors, employers, community members, other agencies and the CEO
  9. Demonstrated ability to perform professionally in a fast-paced environment, be reliable and punctual, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  10. Must have reliable transportation and maintain up-to-date auto insurance

About GLAD:

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is a private non-profit organization that was founded in 1969 and now has 13 locations serving 10 counties in Southern California.

Our goal is to protect the civil rights, and ensure equal access for the deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled communities in particular areas of California, including the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono, Inyo and San Luis Obispo, to all of life’s opportunities.

GLAD’s general purpose and powers shall be to promote the educational, health, housing, vocational, cultural, social and recreational welfare of its deaf and hard of hearing constituents.

The organization’s specific and primary purposes shall be to act as a coordinating agency addressing the broad social service needs of deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled individuals through direct service provision, advocacy, research and dissemination of information to the consumers, professionals and parents.

Salary Range – $28.85- $33.65 Hourly ($60,000-70,000 annually)
